The KU Content Management System
The mission of the University of Kansas is to lift students and society by educating leaders, building healthy communities, and making discoveries that will change the world. To achieve this mission, it’s essential that KU has a robust website that provides relevant online resources in a user-friendly way, while also maintaining a consistent, high-quality look that reflects KU’s status as a top research university.
That's why we’re pleased to launch our new content management system (CMS), a powerful tool that meets these objectives and dramatically improves the way we share content online.
A CMS is a software platform that enables users to easily build and maintain websites, in addition to providing other benefits.
I understand that many of us have grown comfortable with our current family of websites. But KU has hundreds of schools, departments and units, which over the years have created thousands of drastically different web pages. The result is a disjointed and often confusing online experience for users. Our new CMS will help create websites that offer a seamless online experience and better information, are easier to use and reinforce a consistent KU brand across all sites.
To be sure, converting existing pages to the new CMS will take some time, so I’m asking you to begin planning for a conversion as soon as possible. I encourage you to view this as an opportunity to rethink and refresh your unit’s website so that it better serves your audiences.
This CMS website will answer your questions and provide the information you need to get your KU website up and running on the CMS.
I appreciate your cooperation in this effort. I know you’ll find the CMS to be a great tool to help us better serve our students, visitors and the KU community, as well as to promote the many accomplishments and achievements of our great university.
